Approved by the Louisiana Department of Education, Non-Public Schools and located in the pleasant surroundings of the small farming community in Lecompte, Louisiana (a short drive from Houston and Dallas), Red River Academy presents ideal environment for imparting structured education program with strong emphasis on character development for adolescents. The Academy caters to both education and personal development for 13 to 18 year old students in a seamless manner greatly helping the young achieve their personal and academic goals while conquering the problems of adolescence that were such a struggle for them.
The philosophy that education is an essential part of ‘change’ is central to all activities at Red River Academy. The staff is not only adept at teaching the course material that lead to high school diplomas, but is also experienced in helping develop child’s character. They understand that 13 to 18 age group is a very trying period in a child’s life. In this period the child needs special attention and understanding for suitably guiding their abundant energies towards positive activities and actions while nurturing their individual talents and putting their education and growth back on an appropriate path.
Therefore, the Mission Statement at the Red River Academy that says “Transforming Lives and Advancing Knowledge” is always the guiding principle ingrained in the thinking of the Academy staff and is strictly observed at all times. Students are not pressurized but are allowed to work at their own pace and usually deliver what is expected of them. The conducive atmosphere created by the certified teachers makes each student do his/her very best in a healthy competitive environment, motivating them to excel themselves. Hence, the curriculum at the Academy is individualized and competency based. When they graduate from the Academy, the students have learnt essential knowledge and skills. This enables them to deal with their future challenges with enthusiasm and confidences helping them become contributing members of the society.
Red River Academy has set high standards for themselves and provides a well structured supervised environment. Students must observe rules and school discipline and follow a regimental daily schedule that makes education meaningful giving them proper motivation and direction. School support staff has mandate to assist with each student’s character development program and coaches students on school standards, responsibilities and their role in the society.
Besides, students have opportunities outside of the school in an open rural environment to get involved with service oriented projects that help make the community an even better place to live.
The school's campus provides a safe, warm, and distraction-free environment for students with ample outdoor spaces to exercise and play games, while school’s interior, besides providing class rooms and labs also provides spaces for library, gym and common recreational areas giving students a variety of positive activities to choose from.
Students can join the Academy anytime during the year as the education program is geared to address student’s specific needs.
